It has a 235 that was made in May of '68 according to casting numbers. It has a 4 speed with granny gear but I don't know how to tell manufacturer and date. The markings are 1) J148 (October 14, 1958?) and
2) 591665.
I need to replace the throwout bearing but would like to know the make of tranny.
I am new to this forum but have done a lot of "surfing" and it's obvious to me that there is a great deal of knowledge among the members.

Nowak tranny page As a rule, in GM's of this vintage the SM420 was used. Reverse is to the left and back. Around 67 the SM465 was introduced, reverse it to the right and back.

one PTO cover not two and is 1.5" in length difference from the 465
