After several months of searching I finally bought a 52 Chevy short bed. It has a 235 that was made in May of '68 according to casting numbers. It has a 4 speed with granny gear but I don't know how to tell manufacturer and date. The markings are 1) J148 (October 14, 1958?) and
2) 591665.
I need to replace the throwout bearing but would like to know the make of tranny.
I am new to this forum but have done a lot of "surfing" and it's obvious to me that there is a great deal of knowledge among the members.
