You might try The Filling Station & see if they do. None of them have a cheap deposit because they want to make sure the tool comes back. I've always thought it might be a money maker to rent the tools, make a master copy from it then make & sell repops on eBay.

I've thought the same thing, Tiny, after looking at it I don't see where it's so special. The hardest part is getting the dimensions. They probably got an original dealer tool at a swap and just duplicated the dimensions.
Ya might just put them out of business if ya had a print of one.

Ha Ha. I guess we all have the same idea about duplicating this tool. The Filling Station doesn't list it for rental.

You could probably figure it out as Chevrolet used a connecting rod dipper depth of 0.1113 to .2378 inches below the oil level in the oil trough. ( numbers taken from Chevrolet Engineering Report).

DrewP , I had an original tool and used it to duplicate some more .
I thought they were really sort after.

I made 6 tools , nicely lazer cut , nickel plated , precision items . then it took 2 yrs to sell them . I offered them here on the swap meet site and got only one reply , who didnt want to pay the required postage.

I sold them locally eventually.

What I'm saying here is that if you want a tool just make it yourself. 'cause the market is not ready for remanufactured ones.

Dusty that sucks! Id sure have bought one as long as it was reasonable. Then again Im pretty fond of the old 216 which just purrs wonderfully and hasnt let me down yet.

Okey Dokey Dusty, ya must have been marketing them before I was around cuz like Jeff, I probably would have bought one, that is if the price was reasonable.
So, how bout the plans for them, if ya laser cut them then ya must still have the dimensions in the program?
And trucker, where in the world did you come up with the “Chevrolet Engineering Report” for that spec?

I sold mine for an average of $NZ 110. plus post.

The local market is tiny and I figure now saturated, so any others made would have to be pre paid. Postage to US is a killer $NZ67 last time I looked , so I really dont expect it to happen again.
You need someone to rent the chevsofthe40s tool and do the measurements etc , find a good shop to manufacture them , then return it for the core refund...

D.Graham; Chevrolet Engineering for each new model year published an internal Engineering report for all the upper GM management. I happened to be in the right place at the right time to save some of them when Chevrolet was throwing them out many years ago at the Tech. Center along with a pile of Indianapolis Body Plant blueprints which I also managed to acquire.
