Well, I am hoping there is an expert out there for me. I am trying to find some simple chrome air cleaner for my 4 bbl Rochester that sits atop my 283. The diameter is 4 1/2" according to the gasket, but the local performance shops only have other sizes I assume for Edelbrock. This is an original 4GC.
I don't care about the original style at over $200 a pop.
Maybe I am not looking at this correctly.
Please help if possible

Wouldn't a regular $17 chrome 14"x3" air filter from Checker Auto Parts fit on top of a 4 bbl Rochester?

I thought they were the same also. Q-jets, Edelbrock, Carter AFB, & Holley all use the same one.

They make an adapter for those carbs. They are just a plastic piece that costs around $5-10. I got one from Advanced Auto. I believe it was made by Mr. Gasket.

Hey gang. THanks. I got an adaptor piece. Just about all of the air cleaners you see in the auto parts stores are for a 5 1/8" throat.

Not many salvage yards left in this area, but if you have older ones, just about any pre-1966 4-barrel aircleaner would fit. Exceptions would be Holleys and some of the early 1960 Chrysler and Lincoln AFB's. The Rochester 4-GC, Carter WCFB, and most early Carter AFB's used the smaller aircleaner.
