I seem to remember someone saying the 54 had a bit higher kick up above the rear end. My bedwood sits on the frame at that point and the bed looks like it slopes downhill toward the cab. Did the shock mounts rivet or bolt in the 54 frames? (mine are bolted) I noticed a frame indentation where the 54 license plate should be on mine as well. The kickup on the '54 is lower than '53 and earlier. The lower kickup allowed a lower bed floor and a deep bed.

The shock mounts are riveted on my '50 frame. The '49 should have had lever action shocks originally.
You should have stepped spacer blocks on each bed crossmember to make it come out level.

It looks like the gap between the running board apron and the bottom of the bedside will be too big if I lift the front of the bed and/ or lower the rear of the bed. The fenders are bolted to the running board ends and will be out of whack too. I do not think the frame is bent. I put a long straight edge on the flat parts and seemed to be good. | | |
