I hope I can post this here. I beleive it'll get more exposure.

I checked several vendors for AD door hinges and been coming up short. Does anyone know where these boogers may be available?

Also, one of my top hinges needs only the (2) little springs. I don't have to remove the old ones, they're already gone. How difficult is it to install new springs?

Nobody makes a new AD door hinge. I read someone was working on making some but never heard anymore about it. The spring arent hard to put in, i beleive that Jc sells them.

i purchased a set from a man named jay gillett at [email protected]. he is very prompt and fair. i paid 50.00 including shipping from california. i also purchased a set of runningboard brackets. ron

Just got a pair of springs from Jim Carter, pretty cheap, and fast shipping. $3.33 a pair!

mummdog: they are not that hard to put in but can be aggravating. You have to take the hinge apart to put the springs in and then put them back together and put in the door hinge pin. Mine were gone and I ordered them from JCarter. After I got them it takes a few minutes but you will figure our how they go. Just sit down and take a good look at them. I have not put mine back together yet as I also got new hinge pins and I need to drill them holes out just a tat for the new pins. If you don't think you can drill them straight take them to a machine shop and let them drill them. Also taking the old ones out can be a hassle in some cases. Soak them good and don't get in a big hurry. I ended up having to get mine pressed out since I don't have "heat". Good luck.

mummdogg ,jim carter use to sell rebuilt hinges.I believe he had a local shop rebuilding them.You might check and see if he still offers them.

You may feel like you get more exposure posting stuff in the general forum that should be in another forum but it makes it more difficult for future users to find the info they need if it's posted in the wrong forum. I'm moving this to "Doors".

BowtieTim...I e-mailed JC and they can rebuild mine if I ship it to them. As long as the plate on the hinge that mounts to the pilar is in good shape.

probly the smart way to go.i had mine rebuilt by a machine shop ,they had ahell of atime gettin the old pins out to the point where they had to set up ajig and drill them out. charged me $80.00 but i feel was well worth it.one thing i did was to mark location as to what hinge went were.if your unsure........dave
