Since I'm gonna be replacing the rear springs in my 64 C10 Ratt Truk

today, I thought I'd ask if anyone had any shortcuts or "easy ways" to do this. I was gonna remove the shocks (they're gonna be replaced, too) and jack the truck up by the frame, allowing the rear axle to drop down and (hopefully) pull the springs out. Just a thought...can I do this with the track rod still connected or does it have to be disconnected, too?

I've done this numerous times on G-body cars, but never on this model truck...so I'd appreciate anyone's experience or insight.

Thanks,

its real easy.unbolt the bottom of the spring, jack up the truck til the springs loose, then unbolt the top.don't forget the jackstands.you will want to spray the threads with pb blaster a day earlier to loosen up the rust.

My '64 had a hold down bracket at the top and bottom of each spring. A couple were fairly rusty so I had to replace them. They are the only thing keeping the spring located to the trailing arm so make sure they are good before you disassemble. Other that that, it's a piece of cake,
