Does anyone sell or know of a gas tank that will fit in the origional location. I dont want to lose the spare tire carrier in the back. Will a later suburban or blazer tank fit? Please help if you can. I've heard that a later Blazer tank can be made to fit, but you may be best off getting your original done, or doing it yourself Bill | | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,983 Sir Searchalot | | Sir Searchalot Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,983 | You will spend much more fitting straps, filler tube and the cost of a tank than $200. If they do it correctly it is way worth $200. Make sure he has done many gas tanks and find out the different steps he takes. Just "cleaning" in his radiator tank and check for leaks is not $200. Fixing leaks, Special tank cleaning solution, then an inner tank coating and clean the outside, is what you want for $200. All this can be done as Squeeze said by the use of an aftermarket kit. Eastwood has a kit for this $80. If you don't have any holes in it, that should work. I don't think the radiator shop will weld a gas tank anyway. If it does have holes, that will require the proper crazy guy. I don't have ANY faith in ANY leak sealers of ANY type.

Add 75-85 for a kit to seal it.
bartamos, I've had lots of success the past 15 years with sealers for myself and my buddies. I've always used the POR15 kit and had no problems. I currently have one in the 37 that has been in it for 13 years and you can see down in it. Still looks good. I will say all applications have its own set of circumstances and I'm sure who/when/what/how on the preparations go a long way to as well as the actual condition of the tank. I guess it boils down to good common sense/judgement. If the pocketbook can stand it new is always better IF available. | | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,983 Sir Searchalot | | Sir Searchalot Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,983 | Chipmunk, you used sealer. Did you use it to seal a leak? My dislike stems from sealers that I have used to seal a leak somewhere and they don't work for long. Not speaking of a sealers used to coat something.
