For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Sep 2007 Posts: 2,644 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2007 Posts: 2,644 | My '51 has 15-inch wheels. One of them appears to be the "correct" style because it has the sprint clips that hold the hub caps on. The other three don't have clips or holes where clips may have been, and the bosses on the rim where the clip would mount are about 1/4 inch too recessed to just drill and install clips.
So, I want to get at least three "correct" wheels for my project and want to know the years that Chevy 1/2 tons were equipped with 15-inch wheels with spring clips. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 25 Member | | Member Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 25 | The 15" wheels with 6-clips were on trks up to 1954 then 1954- 1960 then they went to 3-clips. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 1,554 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 1,554 | I thought this was not a site for businesses to conduct business.Sure sounds like thats whats going on here. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 549 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 549 | Originally posted by dale937: I thought this was not a site for businesses to conduct business.Sure sounds like thats whats going on here. Looks to me like the guy said he wanted to find some parts and Tom is helping him do that. No harm, no foul in my book. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 3,068 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 3,068 | And he told him which wheels were the correct ones also, Scott | | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 2,953 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 2,953 | Give it a rest. No harm done. I even noted his address. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 | "If you want to let Stovebolters know about things you have for sale or things that you are looking for, please use the appropriate forum in the Swap Meet (Trucks wanted / sale, Parts wanted / sale, Miscellaneous Stovebolt Stuff, Non-GM stuff, Freebies!
Stay cool, guys. A fellow from AZ was banned from this site for doing the exact type of advertising/selling that was done above.
Czechman did nothing wrong in asking the question. And, posting information about what part is correct is helpful.
However, his email address is in his profile. He could have easily and directly been contacted by people wanting to sell parts. On the other hand, maybe trying to make a sale outside the Swap Meet is now OK? | | | | | Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 | Thank you, Tim. The offer to sell has been removed. The proper way to offer someone parts they need is to send them an email or a private message through this board. Just click on the person's name and you'll be taken to his profile. | | |
