This weekend I entered a local car show over the weekend, and I'm proud to say that I won a trophy, being one of the "TOP 10" vehicles!

Okay, so there were only 21 showing, but I suppose it is better to have won "Top 10" than "Bottom 11."

Thanks to Cletis for coming by, showing support, and maybe casting a vote or two.

There was a gorgeous '42 Ford 1-ton flat bed that deservedly was also a Top 10. The '58 Ford (opposite me as the '58 Chevy) didn't make it.

It can be a little tough showing next to $60,000 hot rods, like the '57 Chevy convertible, the '40 Coupe, and the '70 Camaro next to me. I don't know if I'll do it again, but it was fun to show your Bolt to folks who live in your hometown.

Bill,

Thats great. You should be proud. I don't think I would have the guts to enter my truck in a show when it is done. (if I ever get it done)

My hat's off to ya!

That's great. Yes, I voted for you as #1 and the '42 Ford #2. Enjoyed visiting with you. Maybe I'll enter the next one.

Its always nice to walk away with a trophy. However trucks should not be competing against $60,000. streetrods, they should be in a truck class. And it always helps to have freinds there voting for your ride.

Rich, never be ashamed to show your truck. I parked next to a unrestored bolt last week and It got more attention than I did. Shows are more than winning trophys(they are fun though) The chance to meet and learn from others at the shows is the biggest attraction to me.

A lot of small local shows are slanted toward the local buddies, they all vote the same and a outsider has little chance. They are still fun and if you go enough years, you become known as a regular and have a even chance. Some shows around here that are put on by a car club, eliminate themselves from competition and show for just the fun of it.

since we're talking showing off our 'Bolts (both chances for me to show off the new ride were rained out) and the local car show dissolved because of a lack of vuolunteers, is there any other kind of gathering across this great nation of ours to bring special interest rides together?

we have a few cruise nights around here, but i imagine that other fun truck-related events are happening out there...

and rustbucket... don't be shy to enter a car show when she's done, or even before she's done, i was ready to show mine with only blue foam panel insulation as a headliner smile

gazim and 870,

You guys are right. I should never be ashamed to show my truck. I just dont think of her as a "show quality" truck. She will do her fair share of parades when I get her done.

you folks that enter your trucks, done or not, are doing it right, i ahve a 58 fleetside that won`t even be ready to drive for the next year, but we also have a dune buggy and a bradley gt that we show, and I make it a point to park next to the good old boys that are always at the show, just to let them know that as long as it has 4 wheels, the people like to look, we don`t go to win, just to be there, most of the time we get more lookers than they do, plus we enjoy it Mike Bourg

We should try to come up with some truck runs, just for fun - bring what ya got. The model T clubs do that, real low key, but fun. Might be a bit tough with the trucks. Congrats on the trophy, I have won a few the same way, kind of fun.
