there is a lot of government legislation that is trying to hurt our hobby.
please join-its free and it adds to the percieved clout that SEMA can wage when its trying to help us maintain our classic trucks.

I just joined, how about anyone else?

I'll be darned if I'm going to let some stuffed shirt in the government kill my hobby! I just wanted to do my part instead of just complaining about it.

I have a real problem with SEMA. They want legislation passed in every state to allow titling a custom vehicle as the year "it most closely resembles". That's BS. Every show I go to I "compete" with kit cars that look like a pre war antique and are no more pre war than I am. If you want an antique buy one. Don't buy a kit car or use just the skin off of an antique and call it what it isn't. As long as they support that BS I won't support them.

Most things I support or have anything to do with has some things I do not like. Like Tiny I don't agree with some things of SEMA but overall its the "constant factor" in helping us keep some of our old iron. I had already signed up but mostly for the information of what is going on so that I can do what I can locally to save our hobby! And believe me, of recent months, I wish someone, even SEMA would drop in to help educate these yahoo's that don't give a rip about our hobby. Maybe someone else can get them to listen. I have tried more than once but haven't gotten anywhere.

I agree about the kit cars... it pisses me off as much as the fiber glass rat rods with painted on patina..
If you want an old car, go buy one..

I tried to join SEMA but their web site only offered membership to Americans.

We need to vote these people and others like them out of office. I've joined in hope that sema will help voteum out. As far as the kit car deal, I don't like the you vote for me I vote for you deal's. This action is most often sponsered by the car clubs. I think it gives them a bad name for the guy like me, who would have proably joined if I had not seen my truck loose to these antics.

I have seen a lot of great things come out of the SEMA shows, but like others I wonder about the governing body. Having legislators and lobbiests work for the over all good is fine as long as they don't lose sight of why they were formed. I don't think that we should support one lone group. If you feel that laws in your state are unfair and misrepresent our hobbies and our rights than take it up with your congressman and local representatives. If enough of use voice our opions things will change. A single Car Club has many members and so many voices. The same is said about the car shows, if enough people complain about the judging or the rules they will change.

I just joined as well. I got kind of nervous reading about some of the possible legislation. Hopefully this organization will get our voices heard.

Does anyone know if there is any proposed legislation out there attempting to limit the engine types and sizes we are putting in our trucks? A lot of what I have seen is related to the restoration process and titling.
