has anyone tried this swap before?
i looked into wheel bases, the 66 c20 long box fleetside is 127" and our 1980 2wd c10 suburban is 129.5" i was going to swap over the entire drive line and frt suspension which will give me 5 bolt wheel studs, disc brakes, pwr strg etc. i then thought why not just swap all the sheet metal over as it might be less work.
any thoughts on this?
cheers,
mike

My bet is you'll find it less work and a more successful result swapping suspension instead.
By the time you shorten the frame or move the rear suspension to get the wheel base right, you'll have done more work than adapting the rear suspension to the '66 frame should be.
The front suspension is almost a bolt-on swap.
Unless your '66 frame is damaged I'd suggest keeping it.

I think the 66 frame has a drop in it. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 189 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 189 | Save yourself some time and just swap the suspension over to your frame. | | |
