I recommend you buy the genuine Dana Spicer gear sets, they are consistently better quality than the rest. If you have not done a gear swap on a Dana type axle before you may want to have a knowledgeable shop do it, or someone help that knows what to do. I am sure you can do it yourself if you read the manuals, but it is a little tricky to get things set just right.
I don't know about the Dana 44, but most Dana axles require a different carrier when switching from 4.10 or faster to 5.56 or faster. That is the most common "carrier brake" but sometimes it is a different ratio that the carrier changes, depending on the axle model. If you go over that break, then it is a good time to buy a locker or two.

Current fleet (subject to change w/o notice) \'49 GMC 3/4-Ton , 60 Austin Healey Frog-eye Sprite (some assembly required), 2011 Dodge Avenger, 2015 Jeep Cherokee. No, they don't all run. My other ride is a (B737)no, (B767)no, A320.... Update... was Embraer E190, now Boeing B787. Knowledge is a wonderful thing, but ignorance means you don't know you can't do something.
