For helping keep this great

on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Apr 2006 Posts: 51 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Apr 2006 Posts: 51 | Hi
I'm still busy with rebuilding my 55 1st series Chevy Truck and have another question. A couple of days ago I got a 1979 Blazer Steering Pump and Box off ebay Germany and I would like to rebuild it before I make it fit in my Truck.
Has someone an address where I could get an rebuild Kit for the Steering Box and pump?? Please keep in mind that I'm living in Germany and can't just ship the stuff to someone in the US to have it rebuilt.
Thanks. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 5,708 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 5,708 | Bernd, I have enclosed a link to a repair kit..and a rebuilt pump. I only use the linked site because it is a great reference for price and availability. I don't know what is involved in getting something to the Hinterland, but it seems like just purchasing a rebuilt pump would be a time saver. Good luck. http://www.partsamerica.com/PartTypes.aspx?pgid=STERAMS&desc=Steering Stuart | | | | | Joined: Jun 2004 Posts: 8,597 Riding in the Passing Lane | | Riding in the Passing Lane Joined: Jun 2004 Posts: 8,597 | Any parts store in the states has kit,s with the soft parts in them. They probably are available there also. They are made by Saginal division of G.M. I think Mercedes uses them too. I would put seals in them & run them. They seldom go bad. Don't open one up, they are way too complicated for what they are, lots of little pieces, Scott | | | | | Joined: Apr 2006 Posts: 51 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Apr 2006 Posts: 51 | So if I just reseal the pump and box, where do i get the seals from?? Well, if you know for a fact that is a '79 power steering pump for a blazer, one of us could get it at the local parts store and ship it to you.
What are the good brand names for a rebuild kit, fellas?

Does the engine size matter? I was poking around some of the parts store sights online looking at the seal kits.

He will probably have to make backets if it,s going on a 6 cyl. I shure would think you could buy those seal kits in Germany. We can get Mercedes & BMW parts over the counter. There is variations in the upper seals (called worm shaft seal) in the steering box. Some had a smaller shaft then others. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though.
