For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 86 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 86 | On the top of each helper spring at each end, there is a rubber bumper of some type that is riveted to the spring. Ours are dry rotted and flattened. Does anyone know the correct part name for these and maybe who might have them. Or. what could we use in their place. I hate to paint over the bad ones. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 1,756 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 1,756 | | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 2,893 Socket Breaker | | Socket Breaker Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 2,893 | Shmoo - what year truck? 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton? The leaf springs under the axles? I think they are bump stops... but not real sure from your description. -W do they look like this? Spring to Axle Pads SSP-10 1947-55 Pads, rear spring to axle side, set of 4 $5.00 ---- | | | | | Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 86 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 86 | Baxter is a '53 1/2 ton; these are rubber somethings on top of the helper springs. But these are a start; thanks!! | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 2,893 Socket Breaker | | Socket Breaker Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 2,893 | | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 2,893 Socket Breaker | | Socket Breaker Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 2,893 | This is a worn out '53 half ton.. but this shot shows the helper springs: helper springs pic... \'53 half ton So the rubber part you are looking for goes on the top of each end of the helper springs... so that the springs have a stop when it hits the frame rail? -W | | | | | Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 86 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 86 | Yes! I don't see the bumpers in your picture, but they would go at each end on the top of the spring--about as big as oreo cookie. (Would go right under what looks like some kind of bracket on the frame at the rear or left side of the picture). | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 2,893 Socket Breaker | | Socket Breaker Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 2,893 | Hmn.... what about this picture? -W p.s. you might want to edit the topic in your first post... change it to: '53 1/2 ton - helper springs - rubber things? I'd like to know what the official part name is... hmn...

Hope this helps...
