My story is very similar. The only difference was mine was purchased used in 1956 for $500 by my grandfather. My dad learned how to drive in it. They threw a rod in the ole babbit 216 in 1965. It then sat in the tree belt behind the house until 1986 when I asked for and received it as a christmas present. Mine was also a 1952, Mariner Blue, 216, 3 speed. Looking at your floor board under the heater looked exactly like mine. Not to mention my bed is shot, I think from them throwing rocks in it from the field. My dad has stories of driving the truck home with the bumper literaly draging on the ground from being overloaded with rocks.
You have a great story and thanks for sharing it with us. Please keep us posted on your progress. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 | That is a very nice truck to start with! The photos are great and I look forward to more!
I have to give the PO an A for imagination with the door panels! Are they made of vinyl flooring? | | | | | Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 127 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 127 | hah! yep! He had an old camper or something and he used some extra flooring to replace the door panels which had fallen apart =) chev235 - Yea, my bed is pretty bad.. they used it a lot in the fields... and the back of the cab is dented up from them loading boards and stuff and hitting the cab... I'm loving every minute or restoring this thing! I'll keep the pictures going.. thanks for all of the support, I appreciate it!

What a great truck you have! It looks like it's all there and begging to run again. But does your 'significant other' know about your new 'mistress'? Would love to see the pictures of your project as it progresses.

It's great to see your pics. Keep up the good work and I'm sure you'll be passing me soon, as my wife doesn't give me much garage time anymore.
How are you on body work, and how close to Jacksonville, FL are you? I could use a lesson or two before I get started.

I must have put too much hardener in it or something... it's hard to tell how much harderner you need to put in it sometimes... anyone know of any sites that has any videos I can watch or anything with techniques, etc? Thanks!

Except i think yours will be ready before mine (mainly due to the wife, she doesn't understand my other love). I was lucky with my sandblasting. I was able to sandblast my bits at work. Its just hard finding time spend time with my passion. Keep up the good work. I look forward to seeing more. I should be ready to spray the first coat of primer tomorrow.. Then I'll go back over it and find any new spots that I find... what grit do yall recommend for sanding down the few coats of primer? Like the 360 or what? I'm going to go over ALL of the pieces with epoxy with like 180 before I spray the first coat of primer...
