As of this morning when I mailed off my check I am now a 1965 C-10 owner. I was looking for the Holy Grail of C-10's (short bed, big window, factory air, factory tach). I found all that but in a long bed. I have since found the website describing the long bed to short bed conversion which I am 99% sure will happen on this truck. The truck I bought is here: http://laanderud.com/texastruck I don't think I did too bad, I paid $1600 for it and will be driving the 1000 miles from SC to pick it up in a couple weeks. I posted a picture to the Paint and Body Shop forum with a picture of a Photoshopped extended cab truck. I'd be interested to hear if anyone here has seen or attempted this. A friend who is a restoration shop owner wants to go this way instead of cutting the front portion of the frame in the long bed to short bed conversion. There is some work to do but it will make you a very nice looking truck.

For whatever it is worth, I like long boxes. That's just my opinion. I have owned more short than long boxes, and maybe I am just burned out on the shorties. Long box, regular cab, with a gun rack, now that's a truck. Better yet, make it a 3/4 ton or bigger, that's a real truck.
Looks like you have found yourself a real nice one. One thing you'll discover about this group, we all have our favorites. Deep down, I like them all.
Keep us informed about any progress.

I'm sure the guys here will be able to tell you whatever you need to know once you start the restoration. Try to enjoy the journey from current condition to the finished truck that you've invisioned. I don't know if anybody is ever completely done restoring their truck (or classic car for that matter). There's always at least one more thing to do before it will be completely finished.
