I have seen autos that were advertised as low mileage when indeed the odometer had turned. I don't believe that is the case with this one. I'll know more later. Some of the factory options on this truck are power steering, a tow package w/H.D. suspension and power assist 13" drum brakes. Also an auxilary fuel tank and full gauges with tach. Motor is 283 w/th400 auto tranny. Eaton 4:11(4:10?) rear. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 13 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 13 | I knew a guy in Puyallup that had a truck just like that in 1980. Was a Auto shop instructor for Bates. Sure looks like the same one. He bought it new. | | | | | Joined: May 2004 Posts: 920 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2004 Posts: 920 | Well I'm sorry to say that I had to back out of the deal. This is a 1st for anything I've bought on Ebay. Rusty Rod was right. The odometer had turned over, maybe twice. The guys were a little upset. I should have asked more questions, but at the same time, they shouldn't have advertised it with just 19k miles. He explained to me that this is how he sells all his cars, by what the odometer says and that it is exempt anyway. I offered them 1k (the original deal was 1575) only because I felt bad. I know I can find a similar truck in Wyoming for less. He said he'd rather crush it. Another guy there also said that if the truck had only 19k on it, he could get 5 - 6k. My argument was maybe that would be true, but only if the exterior wear matched the mileage. In the shape that truck was in, even it had only 19k, I would estimate it to be worth somewhere between 2 and 3k. I thought I was getting a good deal. Any thoughts? Definitely shady though saying 19000 original miles. That is just false advertising. I think I would be upset and back out too. | | |
