The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area General Truck Talk 1100 "Old Navy" Trucks?

I was at Classic Parts Inc. (formally Chevy Duty) this week and they had 3 47-55 Advanced Design trucks that were used as floor displays at Old Navy Clothing Stores. The counter guy said a collector in Carrolltown, IA had bought 1100 of these from Old Navy. Has anyone heard about this and know more details? Sounds like quite a purchase. It's not everyday someone buys 1100 old Stovebolt Trucks!!

Can't answer your question but I was in an Old Navy store for the first time last week and what I saw on the middle of the sales floor was a purely dilapidated shell of an old Bolt freshly and entirely spray painted navy blue. This particular truck looks fine from 75 feet away but I seriously doubt it would even make a good parts truck.

they used to have them in their stores for advertising displays. they would put mannequins in/on them and hang clothes on them.
all the ones i saw were just decomposed shells with lots of paint,,hardly any good parts.
really cool advertising gimmick tho.........

The three on display have a LOT of body putty in the cab corners and definitely are not show trucks. The grills didn't look bad.

They still have them in all the Old Navy Stores, here in N.C. Just dull blue painted shells, with cheap repo. chrome grilles in them. As said, they look good from a distance. I'm just glad, they have so far escaped the crusher. Binghams Auto Salvage, that used to be not far from me, supplied alot of these trucks, for Old Navy. They were pretty rough trucks to start with. They didn't usually purchase good restorable trucks, because they weren't interested in spending alot of money for them.

From what i've seen in the Old Navy stores here in Houston, if someone bought 1100 of them, he might have enough parts to make 1 truck! He'd still have to get a motor and transmission though because all of the Old Navy trucks have been stripped of their running gears.

old shells of a truck is what I want,bring on the body putty,it dont hinder the ability to install the small block! I would leave the old navy logo on it,Yep,I can hear it now, "Old Navy stops the clock with a 13.44 @ 105mph"

I saw one of the "Old Navy" trucks at the huge "Bass Pro Shop" in Council Bluffs, IA this past weekend. I guess they're getting recycled to other retail businesses! Same color, but the lettering was taken off the doors.

Some kind of discussion about the Old Navy store Chevy trucks has popped up on this board 3 or 4 times in the last few years that I recall. I have not heard anything about them being sold off. I have not been in an Old Navy for awhile though. A couple of them I have seen were not all that bad. Better than what I started with. Getting a title for one might be a challenge.

More and more of them are showing up on eBay. Over the past year or so I have seen a few but there seems to be small flood of them now. Today there are at least 10 for sale on eBay.
(I know, who really cares.)

Remember that there was some guy/gal out there who was told to buy 1100 ADs for advertising displays. I can only imagine the various conditions, but I'm betting they weren't all that good to start with.

The one that I saw for sale on eBay was going for a ridiculously high $2500 and it still wasn't over. I guess it goes along with people buying Old Navy clothes so that they can advertise Old Navy. What a gimmick!

But as far as we as a community are concerned, this isn't all bad. I'd LOVE to see those things sell for sky high prices.

The one in the Salisbury store is a bondo laden hulk. I think the steering wheel is the best piece on it. I'm not really sure why someone would get an Old Navy truck unless they were going to rod it.

The Charlotte Bass Pro Shops has a 3600 flatbed that is a driver. Its one of the nicest display trucks around here.

theres a guy selling them on ebay right now in ny and florida there going for about 5000. each with no motors

Since the Bass Pro trucks have been brought up, the one in Nashville at Opry Mill's has a nice one, it's a complete truck I'm thinking it's a 50 3100. Can't really remember as it's been since July that I was there.

I noticed several of them for sale on e-bay, so maybe there is some truth to the rumor?
