There's a radiator overflow tank on ebay that the seller says is worth $1500. He says that it's an extremly rare GM part.
It would be a nefty thing like a inline heater filter but; $1,500????? Does it come with a truck?

As a rule of thumb I stay away from "rare" and "original" parts on eBay unless I know for a fact it is rare and original. There's a guy on eBay selling "original" exhaust deflectors that don't look like the illustration I have of an original. He's selling them for over $100 each. Either the illustration I have is wrong or there are folks getting taken for a ride. The illustration I have is a photocopy of a page out of a factory accessory book.

I looked at thet tank. Ain't worth no $1500!! Read the description at the bottom, it's got holes in the bottom and it's rusted out too. Maybe if it was NOS, still in the box, never installed. And even then $1500 is too high.

Somebody always bites, if a seller is persistent and keeps his transactions professional.

Sometimes you can have a little fun, acting stupid and ask questions and get an answer that reveals the scam.
Did that once and the seller actually posted the question in the listing...the bids stopped immediatley.... :p

I got a plastic one for less that $10.

They usually sell, for between $100, & $200 dollars, on ebay. He sounds like a seller to stay away from.

After checking out the description myself it is clear to me that the decimal place was obviously left out... and there's still NO WAY I'd give him $15.00 for it.

Where did you get your overflow tank? Asked at my local "parts store" and I thought I had told the guy I just shot his dog! He just gave me a wierd look and said they don't sell them. The tone of his voice almost made me think it was illegal to sell overflow tanks or something.

Does any one have a pic of the tank?I made one for my 3100,from what I remember it looking like but don't know if it's close.

I found the tank on ebay,& can't believe it's been bid to just over $100. The guy has bad feedback, so that's a "RED FLAG" there.

The Truck Shop (www.truckandcarshop.com) in Orange, Southern California has them new for $119. The pic in the catalog looks just like the one on ebay without the rust thru holes.

Pablos I got a universal one at the pep boys. Most of the car shops have them. If you want an offal-fical one, then you have to pay more. I suppose I shoulda been more s-pacific. heeyuk.

Sound's like someone is dummer than a box of rocks.this can't be what Im reading.I use a wiper bottle for free at a bone yard.BUT if you want to buy a overflow bottle I have one for $$500. just call BR459,Jr Barns

Not stock, but was available as a dealer-installed accessory.

The GM/Chevrolet Truck accessory radiator overflow tank during Advance-Design years was more like a can/canister - not a glass or plastic bottle. Of course, a dealer could have installed just about anything.

I wonder if JC's are lead-coated? "Exact, as added by the dealer." If they are not lead-coated, I wonder if they are stainless or galvanized.

Why were the original ones lead-coated?

I just let my 54 run out on the ground, but I periodically have to add more, so it would be a useful add-on. And I probably should have wipers, a heater/defroster, rear license light....the list goes on )

I use a plastic quart hypoid oil jug tied to the radiator support and run the hose in it.
