I am considering replacing the bench seat in my 49 3100 1/2 ton with something "different". How many re-work the stock platform(?) or do you just it cut it off flush with the floor?

It seems that most people cut it flush to the floor. It probably could be reworked though depending on the seat you're putting in.

I am re-working mine, using power bucket seats from late model T-Bird. I was going to cut my riser out, but got worried about losing the rigidity of the floor, oilcanning etc. If I had cut out the existing riser, I would have had to build up some taller mounts for the seats that I have to work, anyway. So, I decided to leave the existing in, and put a plate and some re-inforcements under the seats.
