Yes, to be re-visited yet again...! So, I need a new heater core for my 54 deluxe heater, does anyone make one? I know one place makes the recirculator type, but I've got the 'deluxe' now...

Try your local radiator shop. if you have the old core they'll make one from it using it as a "pattern". I had it done a couple years back for one of my heaters.

Yeah, it's $175... I was hoping to find something a little less 'spendy'...

I thought I got robbed but I must have been the thief. I got mine re-cored for ONLY $135. This was my reaction to the bill: eek

I've yet to hear of anyone making a repro for the deluxe.

Yeah! Well, that's what this is, a 're-core'. $175. My local guy has been great and I'll most likely have him do it, but I'm gonna check out another option first. I can't help but THINK there is a more modern heater core made that a guy could just slip into that heater plenum and make work. MAN!

Thats a little steep but not bad. Measure the core size (distance between the the end tanks and across the width and thickness example= 11" x 6" x 2 1/2") Sometimes a later model heater has the same core size. If that is the case a person could change tanks for less money. There are not many companies that make that type of core any more.
Good Luck
