So, I need a new heater core for my 54 deluxe heater, does anyone make one? I know one place makes the recirculator type, but I've got the 'deluxe' now... | | | | Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 1,516 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 1,516 | Try your local radiator shop. if you have the old core they'll make one from it using it as a "pattern". I had it done a couple years back for one of my heaters. | | | | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 63 Member | Member Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 63 | Yeah, it's $175... I was hoping to find something a little less 'spendy'... | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 627 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 627 | I thought I got robbed but I must have been the thief. I got mine re-cored for ONLY $135. This was my reaction to the bill: I've yet to hear of anyone making a repro for the deluxe.

My local guy has been great and I'll most likely have him do it, but I'm gonna check out another option first. I can't help but THINK there is a more modern heater core made that a guy could just slip into that heater plenum and make work. Measure the core size (distance between the the end tanks and across the width and thickness example= 11" x 6" x 2 1/2") Sometimes a later model heater has the same core size. If that is the case a person could change tanks for less money. There are not many companies that make that type of core any more.
