It sez these "conversions" were usually done by the dealer through an aftermarket company. I remember seeing some that the Union Pacific RR were using in Wyoming when I was a kid. I'm not sure of the exact year, but they were definately 60 - 66. | | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 | Ther weren't made factory be GM until '73. Anything earlier was an aftermarket conversion. I do thnk that GM may have provided chassis and body parts directly to the conversion companies for manufacture, and some may have been sold through regulat Chevy/GMC dealers. Most of these conversions were special ordred by construction/logging/railroad companies. I believe that IHC was the first to build factory crew cabs in the mid-'50s.

If you want to see a redone 4 door, go to page 82 of Custom Classic Trucks and check out the red and white one shown there.
A friend of mine located one that I may go check out this week-end. I hope the owner doesn't know what he has, Scott | | | | | Joined: Aug 2006 Posts: 98 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Aug 2006 Posts: 98 | I asked him if it was an extended cab or 4 door.I had seen the 4 door conversions before. He said it was an extended cab,not 4 door. Thanks for the help guys. | | |
