Did chevy make an extended cab back in 1964?A guy at work told me that he found one this past weekend.When I told him that I didn't know if they made one back then,he got kinda upset with me So,I wanted to ask the experts here if it was built back then.

I've gotta book that has a picture of a 62 with 4 doors. It sez these "conversions" were usually done by the dealer through an aftermarket company. I remember seeing some that the Union Pacific RR were using in Wyoming when I was a kid. I'm not sure of the exact year, but they were definately 60 - 66.

Ther weren't made factory be GM until '73. Anything earlier was an aftermarket conversion. I do thnk that GM may have provided chassis and body parts directly to the conversion companies for manufacture, and some may have been sold through regulat Chevy/GMC dealers. Most of these conversions were special ordred by construction/logging/railroad companies.
I believe that IHC was the first to build factory crew cabs in the mid-'50s.

The 4 door "conversion" was done by a couple of companies including Stageway Coaches. If you want to see a redone 4 door, go to page 82 of Custom Classic Trucks and check out the red and white one shown there.

I asked him if it was an extended cab or 4 door.I had seen the 4 door conversions before.He said it was an extended cab,not 4 door.Thanks for the help guys.
