I wanted to powder coat and use the original wheels and hub caps from the panel truck and so far I don't have a good solution for tires. Talked to a local dealer who checked his catalogs and could only find one 17.5X8, it is a bply bias tire. He is not sure of the quality.

Is there a tire answer, if not is there a wheel answer that I could use to put radials on and still use the original hub caps to get the look?

Thanks for the help.

I think many of us have gone through this dilema. Do a search and there are several threads.

I figured out all my tire dimensions. diameter, section width, tread width, and did several searches at the tire sites to come up with the right numbers on a modern tire. This took a lot of time and screwing around.

The story ends with me going to a good local tire place and finding that they have 7:50 x 17 Tornels in stock. They are a larger diameter then what I took off, but look and work great.

It seems that the 17.5 inch is the problem I am up against. I will search the threads, I did earlier but did not see anything on the 17.5.
Thanks

Denman makes an 8-17.5. I've got 'em on my C20 in a 16.5. Bought them here, fast shipping: Universal vintage tire
If you order with these guys, do it by phone. For some reason the shipping was cheaper than website.

Tire Rack shows Yokohama in an 8-17.5 for $136.

You might check an RV place.

How arethe Denman, are they nylon bias? I will check out Universal Vintage Tire.

I like the Denman's just fine. Yes, they are nylon bias. I had some 16" Goodyear passenger radials on previously so the 8 ply is just a little bit harsher. But I aim to correct that some with better shocks.
The best thing about 'em is they look cool. I hate radials on old cars and trucks.
