Heres some of the options it has. 1. RUST 2. FLAKY PAINT 3. CRACKED GLASS 4. A RUSTED UP STUCK 4 SPEED 5. 6 SLIGHTLY CRACKED TIRES WITH VERY GOOD TREAD 6. A STEEL FLAT DUMPBED 7. IT WAS FREE Sounds like fun don't it, I'll be sure to keep y'all updated as I progress (or digress LOL). It may never become a show winner, but given time it'll pull it's weight around here on the farm. The tranny is stuck tight, got it soaking with diesel right now. If I can ever get it out of 1st gear, I might stand a chance. In the meantime I'm gonna check on a couple big bolts I know of for parts. I've already been told about another one that looked to be rust free, gotta check it out. Figure I'd let it soak a day or so then check it out closer. He opened up the drivers door and the first thing he said was "I spent alot of time behind the wheel of one of these". Papaw had a 49 1 1/2 ton, that was what Dad learned to drive in, he was driving and even hauling straw from West Union, Oh. before he ever had license. But the tranny itself is still stuck in 1st, haven't even been able to pry it out with a tire iron. The tran. doesn't really look that rusted up, thought it might just be pressure on it so I jacked up the rear end, stilll no luck. I'm letting it soak a bit longer, haven't had time to get back to it for a few days anyway. After setting for several years though, can't expect everything to free up over night LOL. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2005 Posts: 191 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2005 Posts: 191 | I found out today about a good running 235 out of a 57 and he's got a good 4 speed too. These are at a local junkyard. I'm gonna try to get up there in the next day or two and check them out. He's got a few old AD's in the yard but most are ate up with rust. Atleast maybe I can get it running and usable this way. I'll patch up the floor board for now. Still need to get the MC freed up. | | |
