What's left is powdery rotten, but all the strips are in place held by every original nut and bolt. Problem is every nut is rusted for life onto each bolt. I'm looking at this and thinking reciprocating saw or boltcutters? Is there an easier way. If the wood is rotten, the strips have been exposed to the same and will be comprimized as well. you will probly damage them further when you take the bolts out.

My brother wanted the bed strips (even though they were rusty, rotten, and abused!) for his rat-rod, so I used a slitting saw to cut them out. We even salvaged enough of the original bed wood to install into his '28 REO bed.
All new for me!
Everything is different now...
