For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 355 Member | | Member Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 355 | We are happy to announce, at 7:05 tonite central time, we started our 261 engine. It runs great. Good oil pressure, temp just where we want it, no funny noises, just smooth bellow of a big iron "6". If you dont have one yet, i would strongly recomend one. Now i got to get the body guys moving on some sheet metal. It runs, it runs, cant believe how good it runs. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 3,068 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 3,068 | Sweet! I've got one, but it doesn't sound so good. You better send me some pictures, Scott | | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 355 Member | | Member Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 355 | I'm putting the hubs and wheels on this sunday, if it had a seat i could drive it around the yard just in it bare frame | | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 3,068 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 3,068 | I got Brads drivetrain just about done. The driveshaft is at the driveline shop now. All I have left is making the rear e-brake cables hook up to the 47's bell crank. Shouldn't take too long. That way I can drive his chassis around too. I'll get you a picture if you get me one of yours, Scott | | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 355 Member | | Member Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 355 | Take notice Fellow bolters, two count them, two 1947 chevy trucks are being reborn right here in Iowa. Brads one ton panel and my 2 ton. It wont be long, and they'll both be on the road again. We have the next truck picked already, it going to be a very early 48'. Its so early in 48' that it still has the "no rain gutter" on the firewall like the 47's. And best of all its a 3100!! | | | | | Joined: Jul 2005 Posts: 1,158 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2005 Posts: 1,158 | | | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 1,636 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 1,636 | You're going to love that 261. I have had one in my 58 1/2 ton for almost 20 years now. Still runs great, and pulls anything I can hook up to the truck. | | |
