Paint won't make the truck, paint it to suit you.

Now that’s a tough one, too many colors to choose from. Go original and you can pick from 6 colors or so. Go 2tone and the options already get really difficult. Try the Gallery for looks you like or go through some hotrod magazines, those people are great with paint and airbrush. Google pictures for your truck and you might find something.
One solution I always really liked, but I never could afford it, is the rainbow thing from front to rear, now that would get you attention, but what color would you put on the paperwork? Personally I like a coating that keeps you wondering. I had a motorbike that looked dark blue, parked in the shade and it was definitely green when standing in the sun. Papers said green, but they kept asking me if I had it repainted. Disadvantage, at night it looked black and hard to see when parked, as there was no chrome on it.
And to makes things more difficult, I’m beginning to think that I might be a bit color blind, I did a few tests on the net and I’m not as good as I thought I was.
My favourite color when I started to drive was rust orange, no need for immediate repairs after a mishap. It never looked really good, but it never looked like the wreck it actually was, you could only see that when you got closer, right Officer grin
A nice combination for my first truck was white paint and randomly applied green primer. They don’t want to park next to you and when in doubt I had the right away. One bummer with it, girls don’t like it, and they keep asking when you are going to paint it.
So pick a color you like and stick with it.
My two cents.

Go to the local car show and look around, red will be the command color, atleast it is around here, Kansas City area! I painted mine dark metalic green with black fenders, people really seem to like the combination. I say stick with a truck color, new truck or old, bright colors from small cars will really be bright and load on a big truck! Joe

The Gallery is a great way to see a couple of hundred trucks. You'll notice that there are a bunch that have wanted to stick with traditional stock colors.
A few have ventured on another path. But one thing is clear, you'll see a truck, not other vehicle, in a color that either does it or don't for the truck.
I had the same dilema. That was until I spotted one that had been in my head but never really visualized. I was then able to email the owner and get the paint name and manufacturer.
But the best is to attend car shows to see them up front.
