I am working on buying an entire new be for my 55.
I need rear fenders that are 3" wider. I have been looking at the cost and the fiberglass ones are cheaper that metal ones. I prefer metal but being that I am on an extremely tight budget I was kind of considering fiberglass.
What has you experience/knowledge been with fiberglass?

I've never built fenders specifically but I can give you some advise about fiberglass in general. Plus: Lightweight, doesn't rust, resistant to chemicals, resists light impacts that would dent metal. Minus: Expensive to repair when damaged, total failure when damaged, in some cases the appearance is different because of the thickness of the material. If there's a specific issue you're concerned about e-mail or PM me.

The Coupe has composite rear fenders, and they look and fit pretty well...

They fit well and people are surprised when I mention they're not original metal ones. The fenders I had were beyond repair, and I still think I made the right decision by going with fiberglass.
