You know, step vans, delivery vans, milk trucks, etc. with 1948-54 Chevy chassis? I have had 3 AD pickups but I think I would like a forward control/ van project next time. There is a local guy who has a 50's IH Metro van on a 3/4 or 1 ton chassis. It's tall and rounded and different. Cool. :p

i have a 1970 P10 Stepvan (47,824 actual miles)... it was originally the mail truck for University of Virginia... it has the short wheelbase 1/2 ton chassis and a 250 inline/ 3 speed... i've had it for a long time... i really love that thing... i also have a 1935 chevy pickup that i'm just starting on... i'll be doing that one as a hotrod...
it's good to see another stepvan feller here... not many of us around it seems...

8 ft. 1080lb. Alloy Body with 300cu.ft. Load space on 104" wheelbase 1 1/4 ton payload capacity on PM 152-22 Chassis And no rust.

aluminium is at like a $1.00 a LB. and the Body
on the comet is 1080 LBS @ $1.00 a LB.
the two on ebay are Chevrolet model #3742 3/4-ton forward control T3-12-125" Wheelbase (peak Loader)It is 1500 LBS of aluminium

Maxx do you have any pictures of your truck on the Stovebolt gallery or elsewhere online? The two ebay trucks are really too big for me - no place to store it. I have seen some smaller trucks like that. I really want something that will fit in my garage.

I guess I should realize that if the truck is tall enough that an adult can walk thru it then it would be too tall for a residential garage. I liked this one the best because of the Chevy grille - but I bet it's heavy with that steel body.

Great vehicles. Most shops wouldn,t touch them but they are easy to work on. Some of the big fleets had rebuild programs. Every 5 years they put it in the shop & we started with a new Goodwrench engine & did a complete renovation with new paint job. These aluminum bodies last practically forever.

I need to find a good printed repair manual. And the time to bang in 400 Rivets for the new side panels 1/8"x48"x108" and the Rivets Brazier Head are 1/2" 1/4" Dia shank length 1/2"
