How many headlights does it have? If the hood has the "eyebrows" on it and dual headlights, then I would say that you have a 1961. If the hood is the same as the 63-66 trucks and you have single headlights, then the truck is most likely a 1962. Look in the gallery at the differences between the two model years and this might clue you in to what year you have.

On the other hand if it does NOT have nostrils, it COULD still be a 61. Those were so unpopular, that even GM would swap in the new hood when repairing front end damage. The headlights are a safer guide.
Also, back then titles weren't as crucial as they are now. It's possible that you have an early 62 truck which happened to get registered as a '61. Of the VIN plate and the title, the VIN plate is more definitive.

They look like huge pods on either side of the hood that stretch all the way back. Pretty huge difference if you ask me. The later hoods do have "nostrils" hidden down where the hood meets the radiator support, but the earlier ones have jet intakes on top. Much bigger than 2x12.
