Man did I have a lucky find at the junkyard I had to go get a bench seat, and get rid of these stupid bucket seats, so I headed out there, found one that looked fairly well, and unbolted it. The guy had already quoted me $35 for it, so I loaded it up in the truck and drove off. I find out, now, that this seat seems to have been professionally re-done! ALL of the metal in it, except 2 tiny bars and a spring, is brand new. The foam is all new. Not sure where it was done, but it has 2 ID tags on the bottom from when it was done. While the vinyl on the seat is ripped in 3 spots, they are tiny, and shouldn't be hard to fix.

That's what brings me here ... All 3 are on the drivers side of the seat, with the shortest being less than an inch of a tear and the longest being about 1" wide by 2.5" long. Since it's vinyl, it's done that thing where it hardens on the ends, and if I sit on it, it sure will hurt

So I'm thinking, I've patched vinyl things before with the clear vinyl and some of that glue stuff, could I use that? This should be a temporary fix, because I'll be putting on a seat cover over it (Don't want to burn the legs in this Texas Heat!)

Just remember that when Duct tape gets warm,the glue oozes from around the edges so you'll stick to it,and it's not easy to remove from the seat of your levi's.I'd consider patching it with Duct tape.then tossing an old blanket over it until you get your seat cover.
Speed

Since you'll probably end up doing it sooner or later, I suggest you take your seat directly to an upholstery shop and they can replace just the torn piece, shouldn't be more than another $35.

Once they've finished repairing it you won't know it was ever broken.

Sweet, did not think of that. It needs a little foam under there too, they could probably do that for $5 more, maybe.

I had an old F%@$ truck once and the seat was falling apart. I took my girlfriends feather pillow and used that for padding. I then duct taped the crap out of the seat. I had an old dirty seat cover and washed it in her washing machine. I put that over it and it was a dandy seat. I needed that cushy seat after getting my butt chewed by my girlfriend. She never did have her priorities straight.
