I am still having problem as stated in my previous post, Indiana to Ohio vin problem. Tille has engine number on it and doesn't match the vin number on door plate. I checked here in Ohio and no luck yet. Does anyone know where I can find the Vin number on the frame? Thanks in advance, Ralph

The door number shouldn't match the engine. I don't think there was a frame number, but I got my 53 registered using the number on the door serial plate. DMV just needs a number that is currently not in use. Id contact a street rod shop or try to find a DMV person that works for used car lots, these people deal with these issues every day and know the ropes.

The folks down at AAA usually have someone who deals with registrations and know the ropes for older trucks. Give the local office a call of visit.

Well you have a couple of problems here.

First is that VIN has a special meaning and wasn't in use in 1953. Your truck does not and never had a VIN.

Second is that they never put a serial number on the frame in 1953.

I don't know the solution to this problem but when dealing with the state you may have to educate them about these details. Most likely you are dealing with someone who wasn't even born when you truck was built...

It's true. I really don't do anything but browse the Internet looking for trouble...
