I have the opportunity to buy a 1965 Chevy C10, with a 350 engine pulled out of a 71 nova, and rebuilt 48k miles ago. It has a new 3 speed transmission (4k miles old), and the body is in good shape. It does have rust damage, because the previous owner decided to be brilliant and paint over existing rust spots. As nearly as I can determine, all the other parts of the truck are stock, except for an edelbrock 4 barrel carb, and edelbrock heads. The buyer is selling for $1200. Good deal?

I would think if the drive train is what you've been told, that alone would be worth a pretty good chunk of the $1,200 asking price.

If it's something you can drive and enjoy now, I'd say go for it. Rust can always be fixed over time.

I'd say it's a good deal, but I'm certainly not the expert.
What about the rest of the running gear (steering, brakes, electrical, suspension)?
If it's all in decent shape and the only thing the truck needs is some bodywork, then it sounds like a fine project base to me, the non-expert.

As long as the box sides are useable, everything else can be bought. Sounds good to me,

I think that just based on the running gear it is a good buy, i once bought a suburban because of the intake and carb it had. i paid $300 for the suburban and it had tons of edelbrock and holley parts. i think that if you can see yourself using it and it is what you want then go for it.

I think that this sounds like a pretty good deal.
