1957 GMC sold last night in Scottsdale and the buyer paid $50,220

A very nice truck, but not 100% correct.

A lot of money for that vehicle.Someone must have wanted it awful bad.I watched about 3 hrs of the auction,and seen some decent deals.A 1953 Custom Olds,a 1959 ElCamino SS,went at pretty fair money.

my wife wanted the pink alan jackson jeep, told her you could build one for a lot less then 47,500,,yeh, but then you would not have one that Alan set in.

The one that kind of shocked me was the 50's VW convert.

No where near a VW expert, but that seems like alot of money, $50,760 for a bug.

I could care less if Jesus Christ himself sat in it with the Pope riding shotgun while they pulled Jimi Hendrix around on a skateboard.. $47,500 is a little too steep for a jeep.

And 50G's for a '57 GMC? The closest i've ever come to making that big a mistake was waking up beside what very well could have been a tranny back in college after a heavy night of partying.

I didn't lift the blankets to check before I took off.. some things are better left unknown.

I just can't figure how you can get 50K for the truck if it reeeealy isn't original. I mean, just look at your truck (NorthernGMC's 59). THAT is original.

I'm not in the parts business. My dad owns the 58 you're asking about. I own the project 56 inside the back of and beside that one ;-)

My truck is very original, with the exception of the colour, the box has stainless trim, no stake pockets and oak boards. If you get picky my truck was not a deluxe truck, but I chromed the bumpers, grill and the headlight doors. A deluxe truck would also have had stainless trim around the windows.

Blaine - nobody can be picky about that chrome as it could have been ordered as individual options w/o having the full deluxe package - could even have been ordered w/ a custom color! yer truck is #1 and as original as any

My colour is a GM colour, but from the early 2000's!

So, Folks, think this rig might bring 1/3 that amount?

1/3 as much as what? mismatched colors on trim parts, and missing hubcaps and tailgate will certainly lower the price you could get at any level - yer thinkin it might be worth 16,000?

I guess if you can get your truck in the Barret Jackson auction, there are plenty of people with a lot of money and nothing to do who will pay for it. I guess I better get started on my GMC.

Actually, I was fiddling around with the 'Image' function to see if I could get a photo to appear.
I have too much sweat-equity in this rig to part with it at whatever price. Oh, yes, it has tailgate and hubcaps.

the rigs sellin for 50,000 are the ones where the 'sweat' was paid for - frequently 1/3 more than the selling price
