Long story short, an older lady where I work is in charge of my Ex-Step-Grandfather's estate. He had a LOT of older trucks, and parts, etc. This one is the one I want (pix below), but I truly don't know what to offer, realistically. I don't want to take her, I just really dunno how much to offer for this truck.

It's a 69 (I think? - please correct me!), Straight Six, It's got some rust in the rockers on the driver side, the bed has a rather large dent in the back quarter, with about a 3" rust hole. No idea what the bed floor looks like, it's got quite a bit of junk in it. There is NO title. The truck was parked less than 7 years ago.

So, anywho, what should I offer this lady? It's a Kentucky truck, btw. Thanks in advance for the help!!!

Honestly, I don't know what it's worth. I'm a minitrucker- this bodystyle is new to me. It's worth 500-600 dollars to me. That's what I had in mind to offer.

Thanks alot man, I really appreciate that and agree. I tried to get her to price it, though, and she's completely clueless as to what it's worth and has nobody really to advise her. But I really appreciate the suggestion!!

Where are you located in eastern KY? I'm in Lewis county myself. With no title and the damage from rust and dents you mentioned I figured about the same as you, 500. to 600. I've seen several about like that or better go for less than a $1000. around here, usually just before I hear about it. frown

Rock. 'Nother Eastern Kentuckian.

I'm in Letcher County myself- those trucks are in Perry County. There's actually two other 67-72 cabs, as well as a '54 with no tranny, three 73-80s, and a '58 1.5 ton. After I swing this one, I'll get ya hooked up if you're interested?

Petersville- that's up near Flemingsburg and Morehead ain't it? I'm up there all the time. Wife has grandmother in Maysville, and I've got car show buddies in Morehead and Olive Hill. I attend a few shows up there every year, and once sat broke down for 7 hours in my V8'd sonoma on the side of the road in Flemingsburg, lol.

The lack of a title would slow me down a lot.

I don't know what the rules are in Kentucky, but here in Washington that truck isn't worth enough to deal with the title problem. I realize that's a harsh statement, but its a long difficult process here.

The $500 to $1,000 range would buy a truck like that here it it had a title. But without a title its going to be hard to sell as anything but a parts truck. And that takes the value down a lot.

You've got my location down pretty good. Should probably be able to get a salvage title if nothing else. Just have to do a little checking around. I might be interested in one or some of the other trucks you mentioned. I'm gonna be kinda tied up for the next 4 months or so (tax work).

i would say 300 to 500 with no title offer on the low end and go up till you agree on the price and if she is the exectutor of the will she can get a duplicate title and sign his name to it

It looks like a '70 to me based on the grill inserts. You'll have to run the VIN to be sure. It's either a 69 or 70 for sure.

I think 500-600 dollars tops for a non-running no title basic truck of that vintage is reasonable. I doubt she could get much more than that if she were to advertise it. If you find more rust than you think you've seen the price should drop sharply.

On the good side it looks pretty complete and fairly straight to me. Check carefully around the top of the windsheild (Inside and out), cowel and firewall. I've seen trucks of this vintage rust there if they've sat in the woods for a long time.

Nice lookin truck. I would say that there is at least $500.00 worth in parts there. I know of a 71 GMC 1/2 with 350 and 4speed, about the same shape as the one in the photo, with a clear title in Mo. The owner is asking $1500.00. If interested contact me

I would offer her $500 without the title and tell her if she can title the truck $750.I did that on a truck I was looking at and before I got home(50 miles away)the guy called and said he had found the title.
The truck appears to be "on the money" at about $1000.00 give or take $100.
Good luck and keep us posted!!

I think this one is worth no more than $500.00, but that is only my opinion. With that said once you fix her up she will be worth so much more than just money. She will be YOUR BOLT.

i am with old sub and cliff on this one, i would pay $500 for that truck, on the condition that she could get a duplicate title. if there is no title i would either drop the price to less than $300 or i would keep looking. it is easy to get hooked on the wrong vehicle, been there. i think that this could be the right vehicle with certain conditions, mainly the title issue. i know that you don't want to feel like you are swindling the woman but $500 is generous for a non-running, rusty, dented, titless truck. that being said their is a certain sense of pride that one can gain from bringing a vehicle back from the brink. i know that most of us are suckers for a truck in need but just make sure that you are willing to take on the extra issues of your damsel in distress. good luck friend.
