Here is an idea I did for my desk, since I couldnt find anything close to a broke down bolt diecast model.Doesnt take but about ten minutes to make an original looking old farm found bolt for your desk.
Maisto sells a 1:18 diecast 49-53 Chevy 3100 with a 4X4 build up kit. I bought one for my kid. Well I bought a second one, dissasembled it, took out the plastic windshield and stuff and had it down to just a metal frame. I removed the doors, set it on fire, and then sanded spots down and added different colors to fenders and bed and everything else.. One door I painted primer gray, One red and i rubbed in the soot . I left the bed a burnt yellow.Then I cracked the window, put bullet holes in them and adjusted the underframe parts so that it sits unlevel on the old differential. I took the grill out and busted it and added extra tranny and tires to the bed and hung the tailgate crooked. I hung the different color doors at different angles. All of this sits on a maisto car hauler trailer that is pulled by a restored 1950AD 3100. (part of another set that came with a cherry chevelle. It makes an awsome desk piece.

I found a 1/18th scale diorama sealed behind glass
of a distressed 1950s model brand-x pickup. It has spare parts, tools and even oil stains on the floor. I have replaced the Brand-X with a Dawn Blue 1958 Apache SWB (same as mine). But when all is said and done, I find that I should have spent the money on a radio speaker or a turn signal switch.

my other hobby besides spending money on my truck is modeling (cars...not myself). I just found a 1960 shortbed fleetside model on ebay and I am going to build it to look just like my truck is unresotred so i can always look at how it was. i am looking forward to the side project, i find that the models progress much faster than the real trucks do. keeps me sane...mostly

So, you are the guy that travels around to all the farmhouses throughout the world, fixin' up old bolts like an evil Stovebolt anti-Santy Claus?

Wow -- Let's see some photos!!

I have been hunting a scale model of my truck but have been unable to find one. I need a 1970 chevy C10 lwb stepside, anybody got a suggestion as to where I might be able to locate one? Actually I would like 2, one to depict the truck as it was when I got it and one to show the finished ride (if I ever get that far).

I thought about that, but maybe a seperate thread. It really wouldnt fit in for the real trucks. Perhaps if we had a model corner? I guess we wil see. But more than when I get home and start on my 46 one ton, im gonna get a website so you guys can see the progress I make from North Carolina or Ohio. More then likely some country place in NC. Then I willl throw in the model photos. But as stovebolters go they are usually do it yourselfers, so if you want to do one of these models, you could come up with some pretty cool ones and this thing only took about 18 dollars out of my pocket, so its very doable. Maybe we should have a contest for the best actual truckbuilders and the winner gets a junker model or something. I don't know, but I am very thankful to be able to seek all of your advice before bringing the 46 back to life. Happy new year to all!
