I have noticed over the last couple of days bolters "venting" about parts companies. I will be ordering parts soon. I was wondering what opinion others have on some of the companies. I know of Harmon's, Chevy Duty, Jim Carter's, and LMC. Obviously price has a lot to with it, but any other input would be helpful.

I've had pretty good luck with Jim Carter's, although I thought they were lacking in some of their communication. Also had a number of parts I ordered from them placed on back-order, with no notification other than when the in-stock parts arrived. It was noted on the paid invoice I received. I did receive the parts I'd paid for within a couple of weeks.
I've had really good experiences with The Filling Station. They've really gone out of their way to communicate items in or out of stock, delivery details etc.
They even overnighted one package, (on their dime)to ensure my truck wasn't down when I was working against a tight deadline to get it running again.
I'd definately shop both places again, but I usually check The Filling Station first. | | | | Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 5,152 Cruising in the Passing Lane | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 5,152 | American Classic sponsors this site, and would be a good place to start.
Be careful of shopping based on price. Differences in shipping and service can often make what looks like the best price turnout to be the wrong deal even if the parts are identical.

However, I've heard from other 'bolters that you need to know exactly what you need/want when you order. I haven't experienced that - I've been really happy with all my purchases. Plus, they're having a 10% off weekend sale Nov 25/26. www.truckandcarshop.com I've had good luck with American Classic also. I was pleased with their promptness and product quality. Remember to check out the "links" part of this site. It has a terrific list of vendors. They couldn't have had my personal check more than 5 minutes before they shipped my order. The box was here today. I wish everybodies turn around time was even close to theirs. If they ever happen to screw up an order, they always make it more than right with me, Scott | | | | Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 738 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 738 | I have had superb luck, service, and advice from LMC. their stuff seems to fit with the average price of other sellers. I have ordered mirrors, electrical, and some lights from them. good ship time, good prices, great customer service, when i call they take the time to look up who i am and realize that i spend a good deal of money through them. this is nice because then they know to take care of me and not be snooty. anyway i have had good luck with them. I also have had great luck with my local NAPA, i know that some would disagree but i strongly believe in supporting local business whenever possible, and my NAPA guy is an old bolter who knows his stuff. He took 20 minutes one day to help me find a new seal for my gas tank sending unit, a $1.50 part, and then special ordered it for me and got it to the store the next day at opening, when I went in he gave it to me for free because i had spent like $80 bucks there the day before and forgot my wallet when i went down, good people.

It all seems to arrive in a week. Sometimes the stuff is on back order. Like my front windows have been on order since 11 October and still have not arrived. Not complaining just pointing it out as one of the issues I've faced. I've not had a problem returning items either. I get an RMA# and mail it out for a credit. | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6 Junior Member | Junior Member Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6 | I am just kinda getting back in the old truck game after about 10 yrs. Which of the places everyone is talking about is the best to check for hard parts on medium/heavy truck parts?
