I am looking to add matching mirrors to my truck.

Two round black mirrors in the stock location using the two different arm designs. I like them but they do stick out and I am forever hooking on them as I walk by.

Small west coast mirrors w/ fisheye, blinker light (both) plus a round upper door mounted 'peep' on drivers side. My inside is a modern auto dim, compass, temp gauge mounted under an upper boxed in compartment, (radio in center, two pigeon holes on the sides) w/ courtesy lamps.

My '50 3100 came with a rectangular mirror on the driver side, mounted to what appears to be the original arm.

The mirror was cracked, and I replaced it with a 4" round mirror I scored in a box with a bunch of other junk from the auction for a buck.

I dont have a mirror on the passenger side. The rearview mirror.. don't know if it's stock, but it looks like it is.. it's kind of narrow, and hard to really get a full view out the back window, so i'll probably replace it with something a little wider.

several of the vendors offer universal mirrors or mirrors that will mount up other than the stock style.

try a parts store and look at replacement mirrors... or check if they have a catalog, Then you can flip through it and check 'em out.

Try google.com image search for your model truck and see what comes up.

just a few ideas...

I have round mirrors on both sides. Got them from Chevy Duty I think. One problem is that the center bolt rusts easily.. ya think they'd use stainless!!
Also added a 3" peep to drivers side. Helps get over the side mount spare. Put in an interior day/night mirror from one of the catalogs... it pretty much sucks. It really doesn't do the "night" part of it's function.

I had 4X6 mirrors on the 49. Looked kind of goofy. The PO put a driver side arm on the passenger side so the mirror was right behind the post. So, I ordered the correct arm for the pass side and some round mirrors. I tried to put on the pass side arm and the PO must have drilled the holes in the wrong place cause I still couldn't see it. I think I'm gonna weld up the holes on the pass side and just keep the driver side mirror. I have a 5 window cab, so I really don't need a pass side mirror.

Get it clean - paint it with clear fingernail polish...

or use one of those model paint pens in clear...

Any of you 60-66 owners have pics of the round mirrors? I'd like to see what they look like. Also, what's the diameter?

Chuck,

I plan on having the tall rectangle ones. My truck came with left bracket only and no mirror. Mine looks similar to this one or this one . Any one know what these are called?

Running full size West Coast on both sides w/spot on bottom outside RH. When I first got the beast I was thinking "It's not a REAL truck, it's just a pick-em-up." After about a week of driving it I revised my opinion and decided that a 66 GMC 3/4 ton long-bed with a 292 most certainly IS a real truck-'cause it darn sure wasn't going to tolerate being driven any other way. So I replaced the half-assed WC's it had with proper full loops plus brace and separate mirrors all in stainless.

I've got a rectangular aftermarket mirror on the left and I think i've got the original round one from the left side on the right. Seeing as the round one is cracked, I'm going to have it replaced with an "Objects in Mirror are closer than they appear" mirror. That one is crappy for backing up.

I have no mirror on the inside, but I am going to see if I can score one from an AD... or maybe a later one. If not, I'll probably buy one from American Classic Truck Parts. They've got a nice metal one that looks like it could have been in my truck originally.

What are west coast mirrors? are they the big ones that run vertical and attatch above and below window? I'm kinda thinking of those. I have a 3-window and need all the help seeing I can get.

I bought one peep mirror for the drivers side and I attached a flat mirror to my sun visor that works surprisingly well.

And now for something completely different,... I am using mirrors from a Volvo 240 mounted on chrome stock arms. I had to grind off the original mounts, but since they are solid aluminium, plishing the the cut is no big deal. I used the tensioner screw to mount the mirror. The shape is similar to the original pre-54 tail lights, but 4 times the size. Look nice.

I use the stock round mirror on the drivers side only, but very seriously considering adding a peep mirror to get a better view around the side mount spare. Inside mirror stock.
