I have been out trying to put new front shocks on my 52,,, I backed the truck out of the garage just far enough to still leave the front where the garage door is even with the truck, got me a nice shade, a any rate while I am under the front of the truck I hear the loud noise, yup, here comes the garage door down toward me and the truck, the first thought was I dont want it to hit my truck and the next thought is I had better get up off my back, I got up just in time to catch the door and make it reverse back up, it is suspose to have a safety deal where if it touches anything it will stop,, took a bit of force for it to stop,, the guy across the street was mowing his yard at the time and his lawn mower was quite noisy,, I guess this is what trip the deal, dont know, but you can bet I wont park or work on anything just under that door while it is up, and to top it off I have to go back to napa,, the shocks were about 4 inches to long, someone gave me a monroe number of le10003 , napa says it was not stocked but this cross number should work,, well guess what....I am taking my old one with me , it has some numbers on it plus I will give them Jim Carter ref number and see if that help, Jim carter is cheaper by about 3 bucks but I wanted to do it today,,, see ya later,, watch out for those remote garage doors...Fred

Our remote garage doors were opening and closing when they felt like it... We turned them off and use em like regular doors now... What was wierd was the day that they turned on all by them selves!

I prefer the doors with the light beam sensor about 6 inches off the floor.. they won't close no matter what if something is blocking the beam.. provided they're working properly.

But the real moral of the story outta be don't ever work or stand beneath a door.

Years ago I had a garage with one of those big heavy 70's all wood doors. While it was opening one day one of the springs broke, and the weight was too much for the garage door opener.

It tore the Genie garage door opener off the ceiling and slammed down hard enough to xrack the cement.

Remember, for every situation you say "that can't happen" or "thats not likely to happen" there is probably at least one dead guy who thought the same thing.

Remember Joker, your truck is lowered. The stock shocks are gonna be too long. Did your old ones come with Patrick's Kit? I relocated my upper shock mounts on the frame to use the stock size shock. There are alot of companies selling the short shocks but they are pricey.

A note about garage door opener. There is a subdivision here next to an Air Force Base and all the residents are complaining that their garage door remote controls won't work. AFB has "No comment". Local news channels speculate that they are testing some kind of radar jamming device. Too funny.

That same kind of technology Shipwright is what the coppers use to disable moving automobiles while in pursuit. It kills the auto electrical.

Are you referring to EMP (Electro-Magnetic Pulse)?

Point one at a car and POOF.. she goes down like a times square hooker.

I saw a thing on TV awhile back that said they don't use it because not only does it have a habit of overshooting the intended target, but can also kill you.

Quick side story on EMP.
A hobby of mine is Tube audio gear. Tube amps and pre-amps... etc. Hooray for analog! Anyway, for a while there the only place you could get tubes was from the former soviet union. Back story... It seems they figured out during the cold war that tubes SURVIVE EMP blasts. (like... say... one produced from an atomic stike) So even up through the 80's LOTS of soviet military stuff was still based on tubes so AFTER the first round of nukes flew, they'd still have their gear while the west would be sitting on a pile of melted transistors.

Anyway. I'm glad they persued that line of thinking, or my stereo wouldn't work today. *grin*

Another side note. Not that any of us would DREAM of trying to outrun the cops in our trucks, but they should be immune to a Pulse too. Heck... the stock radio should still work.

I remember thinking back around Y2k that if all the cars stopped working my Bolt would be working and making money taking people to the store! But it didn't turn out that way. Oh Well!
