I finally took some pictures of my friend's 52. The 261 is bored .060, head shaved and ported, cast Fenton headers, full race cam, dual Holley-Webers, Mallory Unilite with MSD-6.

Most of his parts came from Patricks. www.patricksantiquecars.com They are the place to go for cams. Intake is a true offy, not one of the repros that are sold today.

I have no idea how much he spent on the engine. The head work was done by a friend who builds heads for race engines for a living. He collected parts for a few years before building.

It runs like a scalded cat. Balanced good enough that he revved it to 6,000 rpm one day, He was afraid to take it any higher. eek

He is still running the straight axle, but wishes he had gone the ifs route. He did redo the springs to lower it. On the rear he's currently running the differential from a 55-58, iirc. Has 3.73 gears. In his garage is a 9" Ford that we've been building.

Tranny is a Saginaw 4 speed, which has held up to some burnouts that went well into third gear. Surprised me, a lot of guys say that box won't hold up.
