They seem to have pretty good prices. | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 314 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: May 2005 Posts: 314 | | | | | Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 117 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 117 | Never heard of them. Do they have a web site? Do they specialize in something? Always looking for a good deal.

I was browsing around and their prices seem very competetive. I was just wondering if anyone had any feedback on them before I go spending big bucks. I am always cautious when it comes to e-shopping. | | | | Joined: Nov 1995 Posts: 1,159 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 1995 Posts: 1,159 | No. You're not breaking any rules -- since you are not selling. Always a good idea to ask around to see if folks are familiar with sellers.

Have you ever heard of them? | | | | Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 355 Member | Member Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 355 | Inky, If you are nervous about trying out a new vendor, try calling their local better business bureau, state attorney general's office, and/or local chamber of commerce. Ask the local BBB if they have any complaints registered against them. Do the same thing with their state's attorney general - they often deal with trade complaints as well.
As for the chamber, see to see if they are members and if so, for how long. (I don't put too much stock in the Chambers, though. Lots of them are bunches of stuffed shirts looking to impress everyone with how important they think they are - in fact I dropped my own membership for that reason. On the other hand, it may tell you that they've been active in their community for many years.)
If you do it, please let us know what you find out. | | | | Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 4,066 Bolter | Bolter Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 4,066 | I just tried their web-site,, no data on pick-up trucks,,,,so they are now history to me.

Any business worth its salt should be willing to provide you with a list of 2 or 3 customers you can call as references. Go ahead and ask. You have nothing to lose. Good luck, | | | | Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 1,682 Extreme Gabster | Extreme Gabster Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 1,682 | Chamber of Commerce is a crock, it's all about getting local companies to join the "club" (which anybody can so so long as they don't mind cutting a check for the "dues")
Contacting the local BBB is a better way to check out a company, but still not a sure thing.
I googled their physical address, and came up with their website as the 1st hit, the second hit was their listing on the napco4x4.org parts vendors website.
The best way to check out a new vendor is to find somebody who's done buisness with them in the past. If you cant find somebody, then do a google search on their physical address as well as their company name.
Doin' the google on the address will tell you if that address is shared by numerous other company names, usually a sign that the outfits mailing address is in a office building, or worse, a Mailboxes, Etc "front".
Doin' the google on the company name will generally reveal other places the name has been mentioned.
In Rico's Rods And Relics case, the name comes up quite often, in websites listings for parts vendors, as well as on personal webpages and numerous message boards.
If after all that research you still feel a little nervous, make a small purchase of under $100 or so and see how that turns out.. since all repro parts are not created equal.. they could be on the up and up as far as shipping you what they say, but their repro parts might not be up to par.
With that said, I like their $116 chrome repro AD bumper, and feel confident about this outfit after my research to buy it if I dont run across one locally (read original & cheaper) soon!
an idea is only stupid if you think about it rationally.

What do you mean by Data?
They are a possible parts source. They have a parts locator page with Year-specific listings for parts and I also saw a few shop manuals etc.

I'm just doing a gallery update for a fellow who added a "thank you" to Rico's. I should have it up in 30 minutes. But ... remember ... just cause he says "thank you" ... you still should check this out as much as you can. JR's got a valid email address ... you might even want to call him. I forwarded him this thread (there's a forward deal at the top of this page, on the left) to see if we can draw him into the discussion. Peg

I had a 1955-66 Shortbed Stepside bed for sale a couple of summers ago and Richard bought it from me. He told me he sold parts and if I need parts for any of my classic vehicles I check with him first. If you are still unsure you can look at this link on his website. http://www.ricos-rods-and-relics.com/References.htm Richard is a Classic truck enthuiust as well.
