Ran into a neighbors boyfriend when I was working on my truck..He's got a 95 S10 with a blown motor and a 5spd..I think I could probably get it for about $500.00..think I could get enough parts off of it to help my 54? Was thinking about trans & drive train to go behind my 235..Maybe some brakes..Any thoughts would be appreciated..

What is the width of the s-10 rear? I think it's too narrow. Your gona need one about 61 " from wheel flange to wheel flange. The best trans to get is behind a V6 S-10. The gearing on the 4 cyl is a little too low Iv'e been told. Also, the 95 has the electronic speedo which won't work with your speedometer without an expensive converter. Hope this helps.

check with Ron Francis Wire Works,or Painless Wiring about the speedo;they might have a retro solution. As far as the 5 speed,I'd go for it. It can't be any worse than whats in it now,and it'll get you set up with a 5 speed. Then,if you find a better geared tranny later,it'll be a lot easier to install.I assume shipwright is referring to the overdrive 5th being too low.That might be true with stock gearing,but if you're planning on a rear end swap,you can easily compensate for it there. I'm interested to see how the rear end measures out too. You could start a trend...

You might search the board -- there has been discussion in the past about T-5 trannies into AD trucks.

I have several 95 S10 company vehicles,one is a 4 cylinder,the others,4.3 V-6's,all are 5 spds.None of thse trucks have T-5 transmissions,they are New Venture 3000 series.The NV transmissions have intergal clutch housing,will not bolt up to an early 6.The NV can be indentified by the mention intergal housing ann more external ribs than the T-5.In addition they have hydraulic slave cylinders to operate the clutch release.
GM tech states the T-5 was never offered in a 4.3 V-6 S10 and the 4 cylinder models switched over to the NV transmission in the early 90's.

Do take a look under the truck,just for the sake of it.The NV tranny's are expensive used,if the body is ok,you can parts it out,maybe make some money for your old truck.

I'll do that..body and whole truck is imaculate, except someone put those little gokart wheels and tires on it
