The fronts went pretty well and are almost done but, couldn't figure out how the rear drums come off. Anyone care to outline rear drum removal for a C20 for me? There are no steps in either the '63 or '65 manual. Also, there are no holes whatsoever in either front or rear backing plates to be able to turn starwheel.

First you have to pull the eight bolts in the center of the drum and remove the axleshaft from the drum. Then find the lock tab that's holding the outer locknut from turning. Take a punch and bend the tab away from the nut and remove the nut. Then remove the locking tag ring and remove the inner nut. The drum is now unattached from the rear diff but may still hang up on the shoes coming off. If it doesn't come off easily, give the drum some light raps of a BFH to break things loose.

I had loosened up those eight bolts and it seemed to make the drum a little looser but, wasn't quite sure about the gear oil coming out and decided to ask before regretting something. So the lock tab and all that business is visible after pulling axle shaft out?
