someone said the manufacture mentioned a smell at high temps.. has anyone experianced this.. i live in southern cali, and it gets HOT! here.. so itl often be very warm in my cab.. so yah.. any halp would be great

We used Miridri roofing mastic on my truck & my bro's, his is finished. Noticed no smell whatsoever from the stuff, get upper 90s here. Brian

I used a heating duct insulation in my cab. I bought it from Lowes Home Center. Its about 16" wide and 25' long. Very sticky back with foam center and aluminum backing. I am very happy with it. Joe

so no smell at all.. it can get aboive 100 outside here

mike how hot do heating ducts get?
fairly hot to the touch anyway..
when i start my project i will probably go with the home insulation..what's good for the home is good enough for my old truck.

I used peel and seal roofing product in my cab and we put it in the sun the other day, to warm it up as to stick it down better and absolutley no smell. Heres a link http://www.bobvila.com/BVTV/HomeAgain/BTS-1103-PealSeal.html

Also Mike. I plan on using a double layer of bubble rap with foil on both sides for the insulating factor as the peel and seal was put on the panels to stop druming. Hope this helps. Stuart

I used the heating duct insulation because I was afraid of the smell coming from a tar based material. All though, the original crap I scraped off my '37 looked like some sort of tar base type sealer. Use a foam type insulation on the roof area and tar based in the doors and on the floor. I have seen the interior of my truck get to 135* when at a show, but then my truck is dark green. Get you a sample of the peal and seal, stick on some sheet metal and throw it in the oven. Then you will know if its going to stink
I bought what I thought was a peal and seal material from the local roofing supply. It was a tar base to seal the valleys in the roof. I put it under the fiberglass fenders to keep rock chips from forming. It was so sticky, I had a hard time getting it in place. It really looked good, till at I got it out in the sun. All four fenders worth fell off with in two hours after sunrise, as if there was no glue on it at all! Joe

heat ducts rarely get above 80 degrees. i went to lowes just awhile ago and they have two sizes of the bubble wrap 16 and 24 wide looks very interesting. don't know yet what i will get. i lke the water heater wrap for the cloth backing seems like it would stick better but then you have the possibility of water soaking if use on the floor up front. may have to vary the material per location. bought quick fix, sames as quick roof have not found the quick roof brand yet or peel and seal. different products different areas. ron
