This was mainly on partical board or plywood but the M/S was the least offensive stuff. It softens the glue....could let it soak into the surface overnight, recoat with contact cement and re-apply new mica.
M/S will also remove over-glue....the C/C balls up and rubs right off.

| | | | | Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 1,703 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 1,703 | I have to change out the felt pads on the finishing heads on our wide belt sanders the felt is glued on with contact cement ...well my Maint. crew does the work I just supervise ...and we have tried acetone & laquer thinner ....and found Regular Ol paint thiner / Mineral Spirits works the best by far , as Dave stated. soak it let it set a while an it will soften the contact cement for easy removal .Hope this helps | | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 9,671 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 9,671 | I'll bet it works just as good as the 3m #8984 "General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner" that I paid ten bucks a quart for. It does the same thing with the freshly applied weather strip adhesive, just simply balls it up and won't touch the old stuff that was on the doors.
