After reading texmo's High HUmp carpet I wonder if I got the wrong one. Am installing new carpet and just cant seem to get it smooth, especially over the forward portion of the hump.
Any sugestions on getting it flat??

Didnt work. came to the conclusion that I have a carpet for the large hump(auto) I have one converted to muncie so didn't order right I guess. Now I have a mess.

Unfortunately, I've discovered that the one-size-fits-all way of manufacturing repo parts is all too commonplace. My carpet was "made for a 56" but still doesn't lay flush.

Depending upon the backing used, you may be able to use a heat gun to try to reshape the carpet. Just make sure to heat the bottom side so that you don't melt the top.

In my case the hump just is too high andI am left with too little carpet on the one side. Like the heat on the back side info tho, will use that one next time. For now I need another new carpet that will fit.

Whoever is selling the carpets should be asking you certain information for your applications. Most all of the high tunnels were for turbo 400 transmissions, or 4 speed manual. To help out with your application, if you still have the original data plate information you can find out exactly what you have. Do not use steam on your carpet ..... the heat gun advice is correct on the backing for forming and streching. Bottom line you have the wrong carpet for your application, and it will not fit without cutting. There are 2 different grades of carpeting as well, spend a little more money $30 on the better quality. Painful though it may be I'm glad you posted...take solace in the fact that your pain may save some of us the same fate.

If you need a new low hump that I have cut too many holes in. Free. I think I will start from scratch and call restoman today. Some times we just have to bite the bullet. thanks for trying texmo
