Sooooooo

I went out yesterday to make sure it would start and run for a Little Blue Truck Day.
The clutch had stuck to the flywheel and I couldn't shift into gear from neutral.
I started it with the transmission in 1st gear. I held in the clutch pedal, it moved forward, and gave I it a good boost with the gas pedal.
The clutch released and now all is good. Until next time. This has happened several times over the last 15 years.
I need to remember to drive it more often.

That's something you need to remember?

Every time I see any of my vehicles, I make excuses to run errands just so I can drive them.

Wayne, put your truck into regular rotation with your other cars and when it's the truck's turn, regardless of the "mission", drive it! Don't make excuses not to drive it like it doesn't have ac or power steering, or gas is too expensive or some other bogus reason.

Vehicles don't like sitting around doing nothing. That's when they start falling apart, as you've experienced.

That's less likely to happen if you wedge a piece of 2 X 4 between the seat and the clutch pedal when the truck will be parked for a while- - - - -holding the pedal down. Use the parking brake or chock a wheel front and rear.

I have been using Jerry’s idea on the 46 I have now. Big rear main seal leaking bad. If I leave it sit just for a couple days, it sticks,
I put it in second or third gear with the clutch depressed and bump the starter without the key on. It will break loose and them turn on the key and start it. I use a one by two and keep it in the cab all the time.

My '47 has done that a few times. As mentioned, I start it in gear with the clutch pedal depressed and the other foot on the brake. That's always worked so far. I also block the pedal down with a 2 x 4 when it's going to be sitting for a while.

Everything I own is older, so driving a '58 1.5 ton to work is not a big chore.

My dad told me decades ago that he fixed them by putting them in 3rd gear then getting out and rocking them back and forth.

This is all good stuff! Maybe someone can help me convince Peggy that the Stovebolt Mobile Command Center (e.g., the '01 AmTran former school bus) needs to do more than occasionally shift from one side of the shed to the other ... smile

With one foot on the clutch and one on the brake, how do you depress the starter button , or is that where the 2x4 comes in?

Mine are 13s and I'm pretty sure they wouldn't reach from the brake pedal to the stomper.

Mine has a V-8 conversion, and so doesn't use the stomp starter. It has a push button.

(But I do wear size 13 shoes also! grin )

Using the emergency brake, frees up the right foot (brake pedal), allowing it to be used on the gas pedal/stomper. Living and driving on pretty flat lands, I never have the problem.
